WOMEN & YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

SUPPORTING THE MOST VULNERABLE

Women face significant challenges in breaking through barriers to succeed in male-dominated workplaces across much of the world.  Civic tech can greatly improve women's empowerment by facilitating access to the digital world, promoting networking and skills enhancement, and fostering economic opportunities.

Tech for Change and our partners have launched women-focused internship and fellowship programs in civic tech. Women acquire technical skills, gain hands-on experience working on gov-tech projects and participate in an agile technology development and deployment process. Our women fellows receive one-on-one mentorship, access to women role models, and opportunities to establish industry connections crucial for their transition into the digital workplace.

The internet has dramatically changed public education across the world, enabling year-round learning opportunities, inside and outside the school classroom. Powered by the internet, civic-tech initiatives can greatly enrich educational experiences for all learners and communities.

Tech for Change and our partners aim to improve public education systems by facilitating greater student, teacher, parent and community engagement, providing accessible information about school performance and policies, empowering parents to participate in decision-making, enabling students to engage in real-world civic tech projects, and using data analytics to identify areas needing improvement, all through digital platforms and tools that promote transparency, accessibility and equitable access to educational opportunities.
